Thanks, this is both teaching and research. (That's the typical combination for science here in the US.) My group webpage will hopefully be up soon, but we will focus on materials chemistry.

As for Open Babel, Blue Obelisk, and Open Data, Open Standards, Open Source (all your abbreviations!) ... well, I've mostly done these as "side projects." I certainly see them as important tools in getting my research accomplished and a great benefit to the community at large. If anything, I think I'll be able to funnel more attention and people towards these directions. I'm also hoping to gain at least some grant money towards improving software tools like these.

Time will tell!</description>
