From a Reuters article, the grad students most likely to cheat are…

Yes, that’s right. Business students, at 56% according to a recent survey. But around a half of all science and engineering graduate students also admitted to cheating in the survey.

I think the most compelling point is this quote:

The typical comment is that what’s important is getting the job done. How you get it done is less important.

Now an interesting question is whether graduate students take their coursework seriously. Certainly in Ph.D. science programs the dissertation research is frequently observed as more important than coursework.

What ways can we encourage more ethical behavior among graduate students?

    Go figure, I am just glad to hear it is not the Doctors or Lawyers.

    Ashley,

    I’m not so sure about the doctors or lawyers — they checked in at 49% and 45% admitting to cheating in this survey. I don’t think it speaks well of any sort of student ethics across the board.
