“I like to solve puzzles…”

Hi. I’m Geoff.

I like to solve puzzles of all sorts, although my particular expertise has found me in materials chemistry. I am currently a new faculty member in the chemistry department at the University of Pittsburgh. My group blends experimental and computational/theoretical studies of electronic materials on the nanoscale. (Put simply, we like to design new materials from small scale to large.)

Previous research has included postdoctoral research at Cornell University focusing on molecular-scale electronic devices and polymer lithium-ion batteries. My Ph.D. work at Northwestern University focused on computational modeling and understanding of conductive plastics. I have been involved in a variety of other projects along the way, including research on polymer lithium-ion batteries, organic light emitting diodes, and organic field-effect transistors.

For every complex problem, there is a solution that is simple, neat, and wrong.
